summer fun at the cabin!

We've had a wonderful week with the kids! Christian surprised us by bringing up some new toys to go with the boat. New waterskis and a hydroslide! We were so excited to get out on the water.... but I think Christian may have been the biggest kid out of all of us! We were disappointed that Collin couldn't come with us this trip because he's working at a Pizza place in the mall. We hope he can be with us next time.

Zac had quite a week! As I was in the kitchen our first evening, I heard him exclaim "I GOT HIM!" He speared a bass, all by himself! We are planning to begin a freezer collection so we can enjoy a fish fry some evening this summer.
Zac was so fun to watch on the hydroslide and waterskis. I loved the last boat ride we took with him. He skied in and out of the wake with such confidence and the biggest smile I've seen on his face in awhile! After a few rounds through the bay he let go of the rope and began to swim towards the boat. We asked if he was tired and he replied "No, but I was having so much fun I didn't want to ruin it by falling!" As you can see in the picture he didn't even get his hair wet! That's our boy.

Kayla had a great week. She spent some time with her BLB (best lake buddy) Molly. Molly and her brother Matthew live at the end of the bay and have been a God-send for the kids. They swam, giggled, snorkeled, giggled, went for walks, giggled and had a great time together. In her quieter moments, Kayla read until she ran out of books to read. She's already planning to bring a bigger collection of books next time! She cheered for Mom during her waterskiing stint, and laughed herself silly when Mom made an unsuccessful attempt at the hydroslide. She was also a big helper in so many ways. Oh, and did I mention she learned to drive the boat?!

Maisie had a great time playing on shore and in the water. She LOVES the lake water and has a big desire to swim like the big kids. She's been putting her face in the water a lot... and drinking a lot of lake water in the process!

Dad found he likes to hydroslide! He spent lots of time waterskiing too, but most of his weekend was spent extending forgiveness and grace to his wife who is just learning how to drive the boat! "Speed up!!!"... "Slow down!!!"... "Speed up!!!" and then inevitably.....a very big splat into the water! Ahh, and the greatest of these is... love!
