Thankfulness

August is here! This summer has been wonderfully busy and I can't help but thankfully reflect on my favorite things about it.

Hands down, my favorite thing about summer is having more time together as a family. The kids are out of school, the days are longer, and we make the most of our time together. From baseball games to family visits, from time in Seattle to time at the lake... Campfires, nature walks, boat rides, hammocks, warm docks, cool, clear lake water... we love summer!

We're thankful for all the LORD has done for us, and fully acknowledge that we don't deserve any of it! God is so good. I remember when we were first married, while skiing we would look down at lake Pend Oreille and talk about how fun it would be to have a place on the lake someday. Ski bums at heart, what could be better than a lake cabin at the bottom of a ski mountain? It seemed to be a far off dream, and we were content to put it in God's hands, even if it never happened. We were amazed that "someday" came sooner than we thought! These are among the special things, the things that confirm for me that our God is not a far away God, he's not a fairy tale, he is real and alive and loves to do personal things for us, to bless us. Even the timing was an ALL God thing. It came at a time in our lives when we needed a place to go away from the cares of this world and find rest. And, thank you God, we did! We're thankful to the Lord for this place. And we aim to enjoy it, with you, to the full!
